Adjustable kettlebells make the most sense at the heavy end, where buying a full ladder of fixed bells gets expensive and bulky, and the Bells of Steel adjustable covers a genuinely useful 12 to 28 kilogram span from a single unit. The shell is a cast-iron-style housing with a wide, chalk-friendly handle, and weight changes happen by loading or removing internal plates that lock into the body, so a lifter can run swings at 16, then drop to 12 for snatch volume or build up to 28 for heavy cleans without owning four separate bells. The handle is sized like a heavy cast bell, accommodating two hands for swings and a secure single-arm hook. The base is flat for floor work, and the locking mechanism is engineered to keep plates from rattling once set. The trade-offs are inherent to the format: an adjustable bell is bulkier and slightly less balanced than a purpose-cast fixed bell at any given weight, changing the load takes a few seconds rather than zero, and the mechanism is one more thing that can wear. But for a space- and budget-constrained gym, replacing a heavy rack with one bell is compelling.
