Overview

REP built the Deep Knurl Power Bar EX for lifters who feel that most bars do not bite hard enough. The knurling here is genuinely aggressive, cut deep so it locks into your hands on a heavy deadlift and into your back on a low-bar squat without the bar drifting. A pronounced center knurl reinforces that squat security, which is the point, but it also rules the bar out for any Olympic lifting where it would shred your neck. The 29mm shaft is stiff with minimal whip, so maximal loads sit still and break cleanly off the floor rather than oscillating. Bronze bushing sleeves are the right call for a power bar, since spin is irrelevant under the big three and bushings are durable and quiet. A high tensile strength and generous load capacity mean the bar handles competition-level weight with margin to spare. The finish protects the steel without filling in the deep knurl pattern. The trade-off is obvious: this grip is punishing on high-rep sets and will tear soft hands, so it rewards lifters with built-up calluses doing low-rep strength work. For a dedicated raw powerlifter who wants maximum grip and rigidity at a fair mid-tier price, it is a strong pick.
