Overview

The PowerBlock Sport EXP Stage 1 sits a notch below the Elite line but keeps the feature that matters most to growing lifters: a clear expansion path. Each block runs 5 to 50 pounds per hand using the classic PowerBlock selector pin, and a magnetic adder pin slots in to give finer jumps between the main steps. The Sport designation means a slightly more value-oriented build than the Elite, with painted weight stacks rather than the tougher finishes higher up the range, but the core selection mechanism is the same proven design that has survived years of basement abuse. Because it is an EXP model, the same base blocks accept the Stage 2 and Stage 3 expansion kits to reach 70 and then 90 pounds per hand, so a beginner can start light and add capacity as their lifts climb. The square nesting shape keeps weight close to the wrist and the footprint tiny. The U-handle and boxy feel at low loads are the usual trade-offs, but for the price this is one of the best value-to-range picks available.
